Protection Supervisor - WWHO/WPG
Reporting to the Protection Program Manager the Protection Supervisor shall be responsible for the implementation and ongoing supervision of child protection and alternate care services. The Protection Supervisor is responsible for program development and ensuring program service delivery complies with program mandates, legislated requirements, protocols and agreements of Waywayseecappo Child & Family Services Inc.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Oversees the day-to-day operation of the unit including the supervision of all Protection Service Workers assigned within the team. • Provides regular coaching, supervision and direction on all cases.
• Provide guidance and direction on all cases, complete case management forms and place in case management binder.
• Assist Protection Workers with resolving program and/or family conflict. Ensure the Protection Worker has developed a suitable plan with the family that has addressed the conflicts/issues.
Ensures Protection Workers adhere to Provincial standards of monthly CIC face to face contacts and required forms are completed and entered on CFSIS in a timely basis (where required).
Oversees the program/case management process within the Unit by providing staff with consultation, direction, and monitoring daily, and ensures key deadlines and responsibilities are adhered to.
Ensures quarterly reviews (90) day reviews are completed and placed on file.
Ensures an initial plan including goals of service, time frames and review dates are documented and on file. This must be completed within thirty (30) days of case assignment.
Establishes an understanding of community values, strengths, and concerns; and works collaboratively with other community services and collaterals to achieve program and service objectives.
Completes case management forms and places in case management binder.
Reviews and screens special rate requests before submitting them to the agency Special Rate Committee.
Participates with Human Resources in the recruitment and selection process; maintains and upgrades staff competencies through professional development and training opportunities; and provides guidance for Agency policies to be adhered to.
Maintains and updates monthly Supervision on CFSIS and attaches hard copies as required. 2
Reviews case management binder monthly to ensure actions, plans, visits and file recordings are completed.
Ensures all services provided are in compliance with Provincial standards, regulations and the Child and Family Services Act of Manitoba.
Ensures all the services provided reflect the values, traditions and customs of Waywayseecappo First Nation.
All Supervisors must perform On-Call duties consisting of a 7 day rotation.
Serve as liaison for the Executive Director internally and externally with agency staff, the Board of Directors, the Authority, and collaterals.
Oversee the agency's day-to-day operations, including (but not limited to) inventory control, ordering supplies, coordinating with trades for repairs, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BSW degree preferred; or Post-secondary degree in Social Sciences acceptable. Other acceptable combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Minimum five (5) years of experience working directly in the child welfare profession.
Minimum three (3) years of direct Supervisory experience within Child Welfare.
Must have extensive experience in program development with proven ability in implementation. • Must have working knowledge of the Child & Family Services Act, the Authorities Act, the Adoption Act, and related Regulations and Standards

Work Site Location
The location of the position is to be determined (Waywayseecappo First Nation Head Office, Brandon Sub-Office, and Winnipeg Sub-Office)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Protection Supervisor will typically be in an office setting. The Protection Supervisor is frequently required to operate a computer, file and retrieve written documents, and work overtime when required or during emergencies. The physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, and bending. Some travel will be required.
The administration of employees and service demands can be emotionally challenging. As a result, this position is more emotionally challenging than physically challenging. Extended periods of sitting are required when performing administrative tasks and attending meetings.
Non-physical demands include work environments where the noise level is usually entirely moderate but may occasionally be loud. The nature of the position may expose the Protection Supervisor to moderate levels of tension when dealing with issues. The level of tension is usually moderate, with high tension occurring occasionally.
