Casual Driver - ALL LOCATIONS

The Driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to children, families, and staff involved with Waywayseecappo Child & Family Services. This position plays a key role in supporting the agency's mission by ensuring that clients have timely and secure transport to appointments, court hearings, therapy sessions, foster homes, and other essential services. The Driver is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the agency’s vehicles, ensuring they are in safe working order.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Drive children, families, and staff to various appointments, youth programs, workshops, drop-ins, and other necessary locations while ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.

  • Perform routine checks on vehicles to ensure they are safe and operational, including inspecting tires, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and other vital systems.

  • Immediately report any mechanical issues or damage to the Transportation Coordinator or supervisor and arrange for timely repairs.

  • Ensure vehicles are kept clean and organized, both inside and out, to maintain a professional and welcoming environment for clients.

  • Follow all traffic laws and organizational policies related to vehicle operations, including the proper use of safety equipment such as seat belts and child safety seats.

  • Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the agency's operations and mission, such as moving belongings that pertain to families and children in care, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma

  • At least 1 year of driving experience in a transportation-related job, preferably in a social services or child welfare setting.

  • Ability to speak Ojibway is an asset.

  • Full Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license.

  • Clean driver’s abstract.

  • Clear adult abuse registry, child abuse registry, and criminal record checks.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
